Mary-Alicia Keane's Story
Have lived in KCKS for over 43 year.prior to that in Leavenworth KS for 3 yrs., Came from Warwick, NY in 1966where I lived for awhile. I have six kids. Ranging in age from 47 to 37,two boys and four girls. We have thirteen grandchildren. We are members of the Cathedral of St. Peter the Apostlemon KCKS I still sing in the choir and my husband, Gene is an usher. Our kids went through the parish school. I am fully retired since 2001 my husband since 1999. I teach First Communion on our parish School of Religion and have for many years. I am involved in several volunteer organizations, mostly Resurrection School at the Cathedral ( several local schools consolidated 6 years ago) where I also work with kid who slipped through the cracks with First Communion and other sacraments. nd need to have more done. Putting off as long as I can. My kids all live out of town, the closest one about 15 miles away, two more live in KS, two in PA and one in WA state. I love living in the plains area. None of my nine brothers and sisters live east of the Mississippi, 3 in KS, 1 in MO, 1 in WI,1in CA, and 1 in TX. Two of the boys have passed away..My husband's family started out as Kansas pioneers, his grandmother was an Indian ( Sac or Fox ) adopted by a German Family after a prairie fire near Beloit KS. She grew up on a soddie and moved to Old Westport after marrying a German immigrant. We have a close knit neighborhood and would hate to leave it. Have been in the same house for 41 years. I'm still an avid reader,I knit , bake and do art. I use acrylics,watercolors,and pen. I am also an amateur photographer, have won a couple of prizes and had 2 sold. Would love to hear from you all.
